classic waka stream

In spring rain,
its radiant hue delights
beyond all weariness;
and more than that, how dear
is the scent of kerria blossoms.

Meaning
In the spring rain, the vivid beauty of the kerria blossoms is never tiresome, and beyond that, even their fragrance draws the heart.
Commentary
Book II, Spring Poems (Part Two)

Washed by the rain, the color and fragrance of the kerria blossoms become all the more vivid.

“Nihoeru” conveys not only scent but also brilliance of color, and here it evokes both qualities.
