Book Ten Spring Love Poems 1925
Headnote: "Grieving at Parting"
This poem laments that, having not seen the beloved clearly as he left at dawn, the speaker must spend the long spring day in longing. Its headnote is "Grieving at Parting." The reluctance of a morning-after parting is expressed together with the length of the long spring day. Like 1914 and others, it laments spending a long spring day in longing.
The first line, "asatode no," means going out the door in the morning, the scene of a lover leaving at dawn after a night together.
The second line, "your figure," names what the speaker wished to see.
The third line, "without seeing well," shows the lingering regret.
The fourth line, "the long spring day," is the same as in 1921.
In the last line, "koi ya kurasamu," "ya" is an interrogative particle in kakari-musubi with the attributive "mu," closing with a lament at spending the long day in longing.
