Harusame no yamazu furufuru aga kouru hito no me sura o aimisenaku ni

English Translation
The rain of the spring
falling, falling without cease—
the one that I love,
not even a glimpse of face
is shown to me, not at all.
Meaning
The spring rain keeps falling and falling without end, and it does not let me see so much as the face of the one I love.
Commentary
Book Ten Spring Love Poems 1932

Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "Poems in Dialogue"
This poem laments that the spring rain keeps falling so that the speaker cannot even see the face of the one she loves. The unceasing spring rain evokes the long days without meeting and the accumulation of longing. It forms an exchange with the next poem, 1933, as man and woman exchange feelings over the spring rain.

The first line, "the spring rain," is the subject of "falling."
The second line, "yamazu furufuru," falling and falling without end, repeats "furu" to stress the continuing rain.
The third line, "whom I love," names the beloved.
In the fourth line, "hito no me sura o," "me" means the face or presence and "sura" means even.
In the last line, "aimisenaku ni," "naku ni" is a nominalized negative with "ni": though it lets me not see. It closes with the lament at not meeting.
