Book Ten Autumn Miscellaneous Poems 2100
Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "On Flowers"
This poem praises the autumn bush clover blooming so richly that the makeshift hut for reaping the autumn fields glows with color, saying one never tires of gazing at it. The splendor of bush clover adds color to the rustic setting of a temporary hut for farm work. It shares the ending of praise, "miredo akanu ka mo," with 1852 in the spring poems.
The first line, "reaping the autumn fields," names the work.
In the second line, "kariio no yadori," "kariio" means a temporary hut, a makeshift lodging for farm work.
In the third line, "niou made," "niou" means to glow with color.
In the fourth line, "sakeru akihagi," "ru" is the attributive of "ri."
The last line, "miredo akanu ka mo," is the set phrase of praise, closing in admiration of the bush clover's beauty.
