Sanukata no nobe no akihagi toki nareba ima sakari nari orite kazasamu

English Translation
On Sanukata's
meadow, autumn bush clover,
since it is its time,
now it is at its full height;
I will break it for my hair.
Meaning
The autumn bush clover in the fields of Sanukata, now that its season has come, is at its height. I will break a sprig and wear it in my hair.
Commentary
Book Ten Autumn Miscellaneous Poems 2106

Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "On Flowers"
This poem says that the bush clover in the fields of Sanukata, having reached its season, is now at its height, so the speaker will break a sprig and wear it. Like the preceding poem it ends with "orite kazasamu," singing of the refined pleasure of wearing bush clover in the hair to enjoy autumn. The preceding poem sings of bush clover just blooming and this one of clover at its peak, so the two show the progress of the bush clover season.

The first line, "of Sanukata," is a place name, sometimes identified with Nukata in Heguri District of Yamato.
The second line, "the autumn bush clover of the fields," names the flower.
The third line, "since it is the season," gives the reason.
The fourth line, "now at its height," breaks the poem after the fourth line.
The last line, "orite kazasamu," is the same ending as the preceding poem, closing with the wish to wear it in the hair.
