Ware mo omou hito mo wasuru na arisoumi no ura fuku kaze no yamu toki mo naku

English Translation
I will think of you—
do not forget me either,
like the wind that blows
along the shores of the rough sea
without a moment's pause
Meaning
I will keep you in my thoughts—and you, do not forget me—never ceasing, like the wind that blows along the shores of the rocky sea.
Commentary
Book Eighteen Miscellaneous Poems IV 1298

Headnote: "Topic unknown."
The poet says, "I will think of you; do not forget me," without ceasing, like the wind on the shores of the rocky sea. She entrusts to a sea wind that never stops a mutual love that never changes.
The poet, "Hitoshiki-ko no Miko," is Princess Kinshi. A daughter of Emperor Uda, said to have been born to Fujiwara no Onshi, she became the consort of Prince Atsuyoshi.

The first line, "Ware mo omou," means "I will think of you," and the poem pauses here.
The second line, "hito mo wasuru na," means "and you, do not forget," with "na" a prohibition. The poem pauses here as well.
The third line, "arisoumi no," means "of the rocky sea," with an extra syllable.
The fourth line, "ura fuku kaze no," means "the wind that blows along the shore."
The last line, "yamu toki mo naku," means "without a moment's pause," bearing back through inversion on the first and second lines.
