whom autumn's end has come to,
wearied of for good,

who leaves me as the mist rises

Book Eighteen Miscellaneous Poems IV 1300
Headnote: "Around the first of the Tenth Month, having discovered that his wife had a secret lover and having had words with her, the next morning."
The poet says that though he has been wholly tired of and told it is over, he cannot forget the one who leaves like rising mist. In the Tenth Month when autumn ends, he joins "aki hatsu," autumn's end, with "aki hatsu," to be tired of utterly, and sings of being unable to forget his wife though he knows her heart has changed.
According to the headnote, around the beginning of the Tenth Month he found that his wife had a secret lover, and after they had words, he composed this the next morning.
The poet is anonymous and the name is not known.
The first line, "Ima wa tote," means "saying it is over now."
The second line, "aki haterareshi," is a pivot word on "aki," both autumn and weariness: autumn has ended, and I am tired of utterly. The first of the Tenth Month in the headnote is when autumn ends and winter begins.
The third line, "mi naredomo," means "though I am one," with "domo" concessive.
The fourth line, "kiri tachi hito o," means "the one who leaves like rising mist," laying autumn's mist over her departure.
The last line, "e ya wa wasururu," means "how could I forget," with "e" potential and the rhetorical binding particle "ya wa" closed by the attributive "wasururu."
