Shinagadori Ina no fushihara tobiwataru shigi ga haoto omoshiroki kana

English Translation
Long-breathed birds of Ina,
across the low plain of Ina
flying on their way,
the whirring wings of snipe
how delightful is the sound!
Meaning
How delightful is the sound of the snipe's wings as they fly across the low-lying plain of Ina!
Commentary
Book Ten Kagura Songs 586

The poem delights in the sound of the wings of snipe flying across the low plain of Ina. Listening closely to the wingbeats of birds crossing the fields, it frankly praises how pleasant they sound. It is the last of the kagura songs without author or headnote that have run from the opening of the book.
This book is devoted to kagura songs, and from its opening poem to 586 come songs sung at the court kagura, with neither author nor headnote recorded. It is considered related to the saibari songs of kagura.

First line, "shinagadori," is a pillow word modifying the place name "Ina."
Second line, "Ina no fushihara," means "the low plain of Ina," a stretch of Inano in Settsu Province where grasses lie low.
Third line, "tobiwataru," means "flying across."
Fourth line, "shigi ga haoto," means "the sound of the snipe's wings."
Final line, "omoshiroki kana," means "how delightful," with "kana" an exclamatory final particle.
