Love Poems 675
Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "Love"
However many ways his heart is tangled, in the end it all goes to the beloved and is gathered into a single bundle there. Like tangled threads or grasses being bound together, the poem shows his scattered thoughts converging on the one he loves. Midaru, to be tangled, and tsukanu, to bind, are associated words.
First line, “samazama ni”: in many ways.
Second line, “omoimidaruru”: tangled in thought, associated with tsukane, binding, at the end.
Third line, “kokoro oba”: my heart, ba adding emphasis.
Fourth line, “kimi ga moto ni zo”: to where you are; the binding particle zo is answered by the attributive atsumuru at the end.
Fifth line, “tsukaneatsumuru”: tsukanu is to bind into one: I gather it in, closing in the attributive form answering zo.
