Love Poems 677
Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "Love"
The poet is in a love so painful that he even resents the parents who raised him to be someone who would love like this. By saying he feels bitter even toward the parents to whom he owes gratitude, he expresses the utmost pain of love.
First line, “kakaru mi ni”: into such a person, one who suffers such a love.
Second line, “ōshitateken”: ōshitatsu is to bring up, and ken past conjecture: who must have raised me.
Third line, “tarachine no”: a pillow word leading to oya, parent.
Fourth line, “oya sae tsuraki”: sae adds one thing more: even my parents; tsurashi is bitter, resented.
Fifth line, “koi mo suru kana”: kana is exclamatory: such a love it is that I have. The same closing line as 655 in this book.
