Headnote: "On the same theme"
This is on the same topic as the preceding poem, expressing one's thoughts through haze. Though he is of no account, let him at least leave in this world the name of one who turned away from it, and make that the keepsake of his life. The poem states the resolve of one who has decided to take vows.
First line, “yo o itou”: to loathe and leave the world.
Second line, “na o dani mo sawa”: dani is at least; sawa is then, if so.
Third line, “todome osate”: written todome osate in the text but taken as todome okite, to leave behind; a line of six syllables.
Fourth line, “kazu naranu mi no”: of a self that counts for nothing.
Fifth line, “omoide ni sen”: n expresses intention, I will make it my keepsake.
