Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "Topic unknown"
If you must bloom, mountain cherry, bloom when the moon is bright, so there will be no break in the nights of viewing your blossoms, the poet says, voicing the wish of Saigyō, who loved both blossom and moon, to watch the flowers day and night.
First line, “onajiku wa”: if it is all the same.
Second line, “tsuki no ori sake”: bloom when the moon is out, an imperative.
Third line, “yamazakura”: a call to the mountain cherry; the poem breaks here.
Fourth line, “hana miru yowa no”: of the nights of viewing the blossoms.
Fifth line, “taema araseji”: ji is negative intention; I will let there be no break.
