Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "Topic unknown"
The fields have become a place where the villagers set up great and small offering wands in rows and tie on horse figures to worship the gods, the poet says, picturing a village festival with offerings and horse figures. Umagata were figures of horses offered to the gods in place of living ones.
First line, “satobito no”: the villagers'.
Second line, “ōnusa konusa”: nusa are offerings to the gods, here great and small.
Third line, “tatenamete”: setting them up in rows.
Fourth line, “umagata musubu”: umagata are horse figures offered to the gods.
Fifth line, “nobe ni narikeri”: the fields have become so; keri closes with a sigh.
