Book Ten Miscellaneous Poems II 388
Seeing on the road the same moon he gazed at in the capital, the poet says it does not feel like a journey's sky at all. Beginning with the same upper lines as the preceding poem, 387, which said the moon came along on the journey, this one says the same moon makes him forget the loneliness of travel, tracing a different movement of the heart.
The first line, "miyako nite," is the same as in the preceding poem.
The second line, "nagameshi tsuki o," uses the attributive past "shi" for the moon gazed at in the capital.
The third line, "miru toki wa," uses "wa": when I look. The next poem, 389, has the same third line.
The fourth line, "tabi no sora tomo," means as the sky of a journey.
The final line, "oboezarikeri," combines the negative "zu" and exclamatory "keri": it does not seem so.
