Unshakably, for ten thousand ages more, we shall rely on the shade of the pine upon the peak of Mount Hakoya, the abode of the retired sovereign.
Senzai Wakashu - Princess Shokushi
Momochitabi Urashima no ko wa kaeru tomo Hakoya no yama wa tokiwa naru beshi
Even if Urashima were to return home a hundred or a thousand times, through all those long years Mount Hakoya would surely remain evergreen and unchanging.
Senzai Wakashu - Fujiwara no Shunzei
Ikuchiyo to kagiranu tazu no koe su nari kumoi no chikaki yado no shirushi ni
I hear the voice of the crane, whose thousands of ages know no limit: a sign that my dwelling stands close to the clouds, to the imperial palace.
Senzai Wakashu - Fujiwara no Kinyoshi
Chitose furu onoe no komatsu utsushiuete yorozuyo made no tomo to koso mime
I have brought the little pine that lives a thousand years down from the mountain peak and planted it here; I shall look upon it as my friend for ten thousand ages to come.

Yorozuyo mo sumu beki yado ni uetsureba matsu koso kimi ga kage o tanomame
Since it has been planted at a dwelling where you will live for ten thousand ages, it is rather the pine that will come to rely on your sheltering shade.
Senzai Wakashu - Minamoto no Michiyoshi
Fue no ne no yorozuyo made to kikoeshi o yama mo kotauru kokochi seshi kana
When I heard the sound of the emperor's flute ring out as if to say "for ten thousand ages," I felt as though the very mountains were answering it, crying out their own long life to him.
Senzai Wakashu - Fujiwara no Sanesada
Murete iru tazu no keshiki ni shiruki kana chitose sumu beki yado no ikemizu
How clearly it shows in the bearing of the cranes gathered in a flock: this is the pond water of a house that will stay clear, and be dwelt in, for a thousand years.
Senzai Wakashu - Fujiwara no Akisue
Mizugaki no katsura o utsusu yado nareba tsuki min koto zo hisashikaru beki
Since this is a house to which a katsura tree has been brought from within a shrine's sacred fence, surely the moon, with which the katsura is bound, will be gazed upon here for long ages to come.
Senzai Wakashu - Kamo no Narisuke
Kimi ga yo ni kurabete iwaba Matsuyama no matsu no hakazu wa sukunakarikeri
If one were to set them beside the span of your life, the needles on the pines of Matsuyama would prove to be few indeed.
Senzai Wakashu - Fujiwara no Takayoshi
Chiyo to nomi onaji koto o zo shirabu naru Nagata no yama no mine no matsukaze
"A thousand ages," and only this, the same thing played over and over like the same tune on a koto: so sounds the wind in the pines on the peak of Mount Nagata.
Senzai Wakashu - Yoshishige no Tamemasa
Chihayaburu Kamita no sato no ine nareba tsukihi to tomo ni hisashikaru beshi
Since this is rice from the village of Kamita, the field of the gods, it will surely endure for long ages, together with the passing of the sun and moon.
Senzai Wakashu - Oe no Masafusa
Suberagi no sue sakayu beki shirushi ni wa kodakaku zo naru Wakamatsu no mori
As a sign that the sovereign's line will flourish far into the future, how tall the trees are growing in the Wakamatsu wood, the wood of young pines.
Senzai Wakashu - Fujiwara no Naganori
Kimi ga yo no kazu ni wa shikaji kagiri naki Chisaka no ura no masago nari tomo
Even the grains of sand on the shore of Chisaka, countless and without end, could never equal the number of the years of my lord's reign.
Senzai Wakashu - Fujiwara no Toshinori
Ametsuchi no kiwame mo shiranu miyo nareba Kumota no mura no ine o koso tsuke
Since this is a reign that knows no bound, like heaven and earth themselves, we pound the rice of Kumota village in its honor.
Senzai Wakashu - Fujiwara no Norikane
Shimo furedo sakae koso mase kimi ga yo ni Ausakayama no seki no sugimori
Though the frost may fall, its flourishing only grows greater: the cedar grove by the barrier on Mount Ōsaka, which has met with my lord's reign.
Senzai Wakashu - Fujiwara no Naganori
Tokiwa naru Mikami no yama no sugimura ya yaoyorozuyo no shirushi naruran
The grove of cedars on Mount Mikami, evergreen and forever unchanging, must surely be the sign of a reign that will last for eight million ages.
Senzai Wakashu - Fujiwara no Suetsune
