Headnote: "On Dew"
This poem admires the white dew lying on the autumn bush clover, seeing it as jewels every morning, and its headnote is "On Dew." Repeating "okeru shiratsuyu" in the second and last lines, it expresses wonder at the dew's beauty in a song-like rhythm. The pairing of bush clover and dew appears often in the bush clover group, and the dew group begins by taking up that flow.
The first line, "on the autumn bush clover," names where the dew lies.
In the second line, "okeru shiratsuyu," "ru" is the attributive of "ri": the white dew that lies.
The third line, "asanasa na," means every morning.
In the fourth line, "tama to shi zo miru," "shi" is emphatic and "zo" an emphatic particle in kakari-musubi with the attributive "miru." The poem breaks here.
The last line, "okeru shiratsuyu," repeats the second line, closing with strengthened wonder at the dew.
