Book Nine Love Poems I 600
Headnote: "Sent to a man."
The poet says that even when she feels she can no longer go on living, how deeply his profound words move her. Amid the pain of a love that seems to consume her life, she conveys how his deep words have touched her heart.
According to the headnote, the poem was sent to a man. It is the last poem of the book; where the opening poem, 507, sang of the misery after meeting, the book closes Love Poems I with a heart moved by the depth of the beloved's words.
The poet is listed as "anonymous," and the composer's name has not come down to us.
The first line, "Nagaraete," means "living on."
The second line, "aranu made ni mo," means "even when I can bear it no longer."
The third line, "koto no ha no," means "of words."
The fourth line, "fukaki wa ika ni," means "how deeply."
The last line, "aware narikeri," means "they move me to the heart, I have found," with "keri" expressing the exclamation of realization.
