Book Twenty Congratulatory Poems 1412
Headnote: "On the same occasion, someone at that house."
The poet says that though years have passed without the master, what never ends in the old house is tears. Even after years since Kanesuke's death, the tears of those left in his house never run dry, and the poem tells of a grief that does not change.
According to the headnote, it was composed on the same occasion as the preceding poem by someone living in the house at Awata.
The poet is anonymous and the name is not known.
The first line, "Kimi masade," means "since you are no longer here."
The second line, "toshi wa henuredo," means "though years have passed," with "do" concessive.
The third line, "furusato ni," means "in this old home."
The fourth line, "tsukisenu mono wa," means "what never ends," singing of unending tears as does "tsukisezarikeru" in the last line of 1395 in this book.
The last line, "namida narikeri," means "is tears, I find," with "keri" for realization.
