Though you are so cold,
there was, it turns out, a bound

I can only weep aloud.

Book Fifteen Love Poems V 974
Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "Topic unknown"
The poem says: though they are cold, there was a limit even to resentment, so I can say nothing more and only weep aloud. It sings of the dead end of a love in which even reproaches have been exhausted and nothing remains but tears.
First line, "tsurakeredo," means "though they are cold."
Second line, "uramuru kagiri," means "the limit of resentment."
Third line, "arikereba," means "since there was."
Fourth line, "mono wa iwarede," means "unable to say anything," with "re" the irrealis of the potential "ru" and "de" a negative conjunctive particle.
Final line, "ne koso nakarure," means "I cannot help but weep aloud," with "rure" the realis of the spontaneous "ru," concluding in answer to the binding particle "koso." It shares "ne o naku," to weep aloud, with the final line of 985 in this book, "ne o mo nakamashi."
