English Translation
All of us, every one,
are things as frail as dew,
and thinking it so,
how my heart stayed lingering
at that hut of grasses
Meaning
Each time I think that all of us are frail as the dew, my heart goes back to that grass hut where it stayed behind.
Commentary
Book Seventeen Miscellaneous Poems II 1135

Headnote: "Sent after I returned, when on a visit to Kōya I called at the hermitage of the monk Jōren at the Inner Sanctuary and found it deeply moving"
When he visited Mount Kōya and called at the hermitage of the monk Jōren at the Inner Sanctuary, he was deeply moved, and after returning he sent this poem. Each time I think that all of us are frail as dew, my heart lingers at that grass hut, he says. Thinking that everyone's life is as fleeting as dew, he finds the life of Jōren's grass hut, where the monk quietly devotes himself to the Buddhist path having cast off the world, truly precious, and conveys how his heart was held there by the visit.
The author, "Provisional Major Counselor Sanekuni," is Fujiwara no Sanekuni. A son of the Palace Minister Fujiwara no Kinnori, he rose to provisional major counselor. He was known as a master of the flute.
It shares "kokoro tomaru," the heart lingering, with "tomarinan" in the third line of 1108 of this book. Like 1107 of this book, it is a poem connected with Mount Kōya.

First line, "tare mo mina": "all of us, every one."
Second line, "tsuyu no mi zo kashi to": "tsuyu no mi" is a self as frail as dew, and "zo kashi" is a strongly insistent expression. It has eight syllables, one too many.
Third line, "omou ni mo": "each time I think so."
Fourth line, "kokoro tomarishi": "where my heart stayed." It shares "kokoro tomaru" with "kokoro mo tomarinan" in the second and third lines of 1108 of this book.
Fifth line, "kusa no io kana": "that humble hut thatched with grass," with "grass" an associated word of "dew" in the second line.
