Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "Topic unknown"
To look upon the mountains where clouds hang is a memory for me too, and I do not forget the closeness I came to know there for the blossoms' sake, the poet says, laying over the hills whose clouds he took for flowers the memory of days spent coming there for love of the blossoms. Taking up 'cloud' and 'flower' from the preceding poem, it closes the poems on blossoms.
First line, “kumo kakaru”: where clouds hang, taking up 'kumo mo kakare.'
Second line, “yamami wa ware mo”: looking at the mountains, for me too.
Third line, “omoide ni”: as a memory.
Fourth line, “hana yue nareshi”: grown close for the blossoms' sake.
Fifth line, “mutsubi wasurezu”: mutsubi is intimacy; I do not forget it.
