Spring Poems 125
Headnote: "Composed on the end of spring"
With spring grown deep and the storm blowing hard at his house, the poet finds not even one blossom left that might have lingered. In the loneliness of confirming that the season of flowers is over lies a farewell to spring. Poems on the end of spring follow from here.
Line 1 continues the line from 123 and 124, "since spring is deep."
Line 2 means "the storm too, fiercely."
Line 3 names the house on which the storm blows.
Line 4 takes up "still unfallen" from 123 and 124, meaning "that should have remained."
Line 5: kana expresses grief that no flowers are left. Where the preceding poems sang of kerria still unfallen, here not even such flowers remain, moving on toward spring's end.
