so like spider's thread

Book Seven Love Poems I 404
Since word broke off entirely long ago, the poet wishes the beloved would no longer catch in her heart as a spider's thread catches. The spider's thread stands for a heart that tries to let go and cannot.
Some manuscripts name Mino of the Empress's Household as the author.
The third line of poem 351 in this book is also 'sasagani no', and poem 386 likewise sets a broken bond beside a spider's thread.
First line, 'kakitaete', means utterly broken off, kaki being an intensifying prefix. It is the same word as the second line 'nado kakitayuru' of poem 372 in this book.
Second line, 'hodo mo henuru o', means though much time has passed, using the concessive o.
Third line, 'sasagani no', means of the spider, leading into kakara, catching, in the final line, because a spider's thread catches. It is the same as the third line of poem 351 in this book.
Fourth line, 'ima wa kokoro ni', means now in my heart.
Final line, 'kakarazu mogana', means if only it would not catch, using the wishing particle mogana.
