Jeweled sleeve-cord worn,
never is there time I fail
to keep her in mind—
should the autumn showers fall,
soaking through, I still will go.

Book Ten Autumn Miscellaneous Poems 2236
Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "On Rain"
This poem resolves to go to the beloved even if soaked by falling showers, for a love never out of mind. Like 1915 in the spring love poems, where one went out without noticing the spring rain, it shows love's single-mindedness regardless of rain. Against the loneliness of being soaked by showers in the preceding poem, this one shows a strong will to go though soaked.
The first line, "tamadasuki," is a pillow word for "kaku," from hanging a sleeve cord over the shoulders.
The second line, "there is no time I do not hold it," breaks the poem after the second line.
The third line, "my love," names the subject.
In the fourth line, "shigure shi furaba," "shi" is emphatic and "ba" marks a supposition: even if showers fall.
In the last line, "nuretsutsu mo yukamu," "mu" expresses intention, closing with the resolve to go though wet.
