Yoso ni shite modokishi hito ni itsushika to sode no shizuku o towarubeki kana

English Translation
As none of my concern
I faulted one who wept, yet now
so soon, I fear,
about the drops upon my sleeves
by that one I shall be asked
Meaning
I once faulted others for weeping, as if it were none of my concern; now, so soon, I shall surely be asked by them about the teardrops on my own sleeves.
Commentary
Book Thirteen Love Poems III 801

Headnote continued from the preceding poem: "Composed on the heart of love when hundred-poem sequences were presented"
Like the preceding poem, a love poem from the Kyūan sequences. Soon, he says, I shall be asked about the drops on my sleeves by the very one I once criticized from a distance. He once looked on those who wept in love as none of his concern and found fault with them, but now that he loves he wets his sleeves with tears and finds himself the one asked the reason for his tears, a reversal into which he puts both humor and lament.
The author, "Akisuke, Master of the Western Capital Office," is Fujiwara no Akisuke. The son of Fujiwara no Akisue, Master of the Office of Palace Repairs, he served as Master of the Western Capital Office and compiled the Shika Wakashū at the command of Retired Emperor Sutoku. He laid the foundations of the poetic learning of the Rokujō Fujiwara house, and a poem of his is included in the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu.

First line, "yoso ni shite": "as none of my concern."
Second line, "modokishi hito ni": "modoku" is to criticize, "by the one I faulted" for weeping in love.
Third line, "itsushika to": "so soon, before I knew it."
