Aware tote hana mishi mine ni na o tomete momiji zo kyō wa tomo ni furikeru
On the peak where he once gazed at blossoms, moved to sorrow, he left his name; today it is the autumn leaves that fall upon it, growing old together with it.
Sankashu - Saigyō
Wakete yuku iro nomi narazu kozue sae chigusa no take wa kokoro somikeri
Not only the colors of the grasses I part as I walk, but even the treetops of Chigusa Peak dye my heart deeply.

Sasa fukami kiri kosu kuki o asadachite nabikiwazurau ari no towatari
With the bamboo grass so deep, I set out at dawn over the peak where the mists pass, bending low and struggling across the Ant's Gate Crossing.
Sankashu - Saigyō
Byōbu ni ya kokoro o tatete omoiken gyōja wa kaeri chigo wa tomarinu
Did they brace their hearts, stiff as a folding screen, worrying over Byōbu-date? The ascetic has turned back, and the acolyte has stayed behind.
Sankashu - Saigyō
Mi ni tsumoru kotoba no tsumi mo arawarete kokoro suminuru mikasane no taki

Sankashu - Saigyō
Yoshi saraba ikue to mo naku yama koete yagate mo hito ni hedaterarenan
Well then, so be it: I will cross mountains, range upon countless range, and simply let myself be cut off from people altogether.
